Traditional and Organic Food Forum to play a key role in national event led by the First Lady.


PELUM ZWE was a key stakeholder at the multi-stakeholder preparatory meeting of a national festival celebrating traditional Zimbabwean food and culture. This meeting was hosted by Her Excellency the first Lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa at the Zimbabwe House on 26 March 2019. The meeting was attended by over 100 stakeholders from government, civil society, private sector, and the media. The purpose of the meeting was to initiate the planning process for a national festival celebrating traditional food and culture in Zimbabwe which is scheduled for the month of May 2019 at the Harare Gardens. A sub-committee comprising of Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement, Ministry of Women Affairs, Community Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Ministry of Environment Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Retailers Association, National Arts Council, Hotels representatives, Restaurants representatives and the Zimbabwe Traditional and Organic Food Forum (which PELUM ZWE is a part of) was established to spearhead the organization of this festival. The Traditional and Organic Food Forum is a network that seeks to increase the consumption of nutritious traditional and organic food in Zimbabwe.
