PELUM Regional Desk Resuscitates

PELUM Country Working Groups convened in Uganda on 13 and 14 September 2019 to revive, reposition and rebrand the Regional PELUM Association, a move aimed at strengthening the agroecology movement in Africa. The two day meeting was attended by seven PELUM Country Working Groups namely Eswatini, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe and supported by Brot für die Welt. This revival and of the Regional desk comes at a critical time when Agroecology is beginning to take centre stage as one of the critical ways of addressing the multitude of challenges that humanity is facing, such as climate change, land degradation and desertification, among others. To that goal, Country Working Groups were assigned tasks to facilitate the revival process and the Regional Board has also decided to pursue re-staffing the Regional desk with competent staff who will be able to engage different stakeholders at regional, continental and international level.
